1. Geographic Location & Administrative Division:

Situated at the southernmost tip of Jiangsu province in the People’s Republic of China, WujiangCity is a stone throw away from the three metropolitan cities of Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. The golden delta area between Jiangsu province, Zhejiang province and ShanghaiCity form the center for foreign oriented economy at the coastal areas in China and the Yangtze River area. Wujiang spans 1176km2, with a population of 780,000 in 10 towns.

With a comfortable climate, convenient transportation, abundant resources and a developed economy, Wujiang is well known as “the fertilizer land of fish and rice”, “ the hometown of silk” , “ElectronicInformationIndustryCity”on the banks of TaiLake.

2. Economy of Wujiang

In conjunction with the reformation and opening-up policy, Wujiang has taken great measures in stepping forward and this has been met with great success. It has been at the forefront of 100 top counties on comprehensive strength in China over 10 years.

Opening-up: Wujiang is amongst the first few districts that opened up. Its export volume is one of the top few in Jiangsu province for the past over 10 years. Foreign exchange earned through export by town and village industry of Wujiang ranks No. 2 of that of top 5 counties (cities) of the whole nation.

Wujiang’s industry is also well developed. There are silk and textile, optical and electric cable and electronic information as the three pillar industries of the city. The export of pure silk of Wujiang takes one sixth of the total export of silk in China. The production of electric cable in Wujiang takes one fifth of the total output in China. Besides, there are industry intensive districts of precision engineering, fine chemicals and new type building materials.
