Marriage between Lafarge and Rui An Building Material

On August 11, 2005, Lafarge, a world topped building material tycoon and Rui An Building Material declared their merger of cement business in China and the establishment of Lafarge & Rui An Building Material Co., Ltd with such a proportion as 55%¡Ă45%. The total capital of the company registered $ 0.8 billion, with 0.1 % planned to be invested (till the end of 2006). Its business would concentrate on Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou. That joint capital company topped the 3rd in China¡¯s cement industry with its production capacity reaching 17.4 million tons, where the market share of Lafarge was expected to reach 17%. On November 15, the newly established Lafarge & Rui An Building Material Co., Ltd announced its merger of 100% shares of Sichuan Shuang Ma Investment Group, with the transfer price totaling 404, 840 Yuan. This move cemented its leading position in southwestern region, with its annual production capacity reaching 21 million tons.
