Output and Sales of Domestic-Produced Automobiles were All Up
in the First Half of 2006

In the first half of 2006, both output and sales of domestic-produced automobiles were up and broke through 3.5 million units, amounting to 3.63 million and 3.54 million units respectively, up by 28.9% and 26.7% respectively on a year-on-year basis. Output and sales of the automobiles in the first half year presented the following characteristics:
1, Output and sales of domestic-produced automobiles maintained a rapid growth and the overall situation was better than the previous year. Compared with the same period of 2005, net increase of automobile output reached 815.1 thousand units, and of sales were 742.8 thousand units, up by 23.79% and 17.36% respectively.
2, Passenger vehicle market showed a momentum of good development in general. Market share of cars rose remarkably, cars with 1.6- and below liter maintained the leading place in the market. Output and sales of passenger vehicle were 2.5963 million and 2.5116 million units respectively, up by 40.3% and 36.53% respectively. But the year-on-year increase of cars was 46.9%, up by 37.61% compared with the same period of last year. Sales of cars with 1.6- and below liter accounted for 54.22% of total sales of various cars.
3, Output and sales of commercial cars remained stable and reached 1.034 million and 1.0236 million units respectively, up by 7.16% and 7.71% respectively on a year-on-year basis. Output and sales of bus reached 142.1 thousand and 139.7 thousand units respectively, up by 13.06% and 12.27% respectively. Output and sales of heavy truck were 114.9 thousand and 111.3 thousand units respectively, down by 0.47% and 2.28% respectively.
4, Sales of top 10 auto makers accounted for 84% of the total.
