The Development of Electronic Telecommunication and Summary of "Tenth Five-Year" Plan

1. General situation of industry development
Information industry as a whole, after its rapid development in 2004 slowed its development space remarkably and maintained steady development in the first half year of 2005, due to the influence of national macro-regulation and domestic and foreign market. In the first half year of 2005, the sales income of information industry products amounted to RMB 1.28377 trillion, with an increase of 20.2% on year-on-year basis; its industrial added value RMB 271.99 billion , with an increase of 21.1% on year-on-year basis; its realized profit RMB 42.11 billion with a decrease of 4.1% on year-on-year basis; its total tax? RMB 13.95 billion, with an increase of 4.6% on year-on-year basis.
In accordance with the updated statistics by Ministry of Information Industry, from January to September in 2005, the total amount of telecommunication service around China added up to RMB 889.88 billion, with an increase of 24.6% compared with the same period last year; total income of telecommunication service was RMB 472.33 billion, with an increase of 10.9% on year-on-year basis.
From January to September 2005, the income of telecommunication service was RMB 431.10 billion, with an increase of 11.6%; the income of postal service was RMB 41.23 billion, with an increase of 4.2%. Among the telecommunication services, income of Mobile Network service was RMB 193.19 billion with an increase of 16.9% on year-on-year basis, accounting for 44.8% of the total telecommunication income; local fixed telephone service income was RMB 129.9 billion, with an increase of 6.3% on year-on-year basis, accounting for 30.1%; the long distance call service income was RMB 77.55 billion, with an increase of 5.2% on year-on-year basis, accounting for 18.0% of the total telecommunication income; data communication network income was RMB 29.86 billion, with an increase of 24.7%, accounting for 6.9% of the total telecommunication income.
From January to September of 2005, the number of newly-added phone subscribers was 77.119 million doors, of which the number of newly-added fixed-line phone subscribers was 34.019 million doors, and the total number of fixed line phone subscribers 0.346 billion doors; the number of newly-added mobile phone subscribers was 4.31 million doors, and the total mobile phone subscribers amounted to 0.378 billion doors. Among the fixed-line phone subscribers, the number of newly-added ones in the urban area was 26.558 million doors, and the total number reached 0.237 billion doors; the number of newly added ones in the rural area was 7.461 million doors, and the total number reached 0.109 billion doors.
From January to September in 2005, the fixed investment of communication around China was RMB 122.61 billion, with a decrease of 12.2% on year-on-year basis. Of it, fixed investment in telecommunication was RMB 121.1 billion, with a decrease of 12.3% on year-on-year basis; fixed investment in postal service was RMB 1.51 billion, with a decrease of 0.5% on year-on-year basis. Among the fixed assets investment in telecommunication, that in the eastern area was RMB 60.55 billion, with a decrease of 12.8%; that in the central area was RMB 31.27 billion, with a decease of 7.3%; that in the western area was RMB 24.88 billion, with a decrease of 15.1%. Till the end of 2005, mobile base stations built in China added up to 0.523 million channels, with an increase of 3.6% compared with 0.505 million channels last year, of which that in the second quarter was 0.314 million channels. Its sales amount is increasing further. Till June 2005, the export of optical communication equipment was 50, 510, and the export value was 171.902 million$, with an increase of 178% on year-on-year basis. Of it, China manufactured 65, 000 optical equipments in the second quarter, with an increase of 17.86% on year-on-year basis, and exported 55,100 sets, and the export value was 171.9021 million$.
